Not your average

What up HIPHOP?
I like to welcome you to the cherry popping of pinkys (not the Porn s tar) quest to take over the world. Allow me the pleasure of introducing myself and my armies' eventual attack on all things bad and good in Hip Hop. Whats up Im known to the world as Guds aka gudtyme I rep with a crew called The Officials. I know Hip Hop, I am Hip Hop!! I read allot of blogs some i find informative (DallasPenn.com, NahRight, MissInfo.tv) top 3 on the net these are written by people with HipHop in their dna. Its funny how the internet has changed, and shaped the availability of Hip Hop in the Afro-Punk age. We are very Max Headroom these days with Vlogs popping up like pimples on Moniques ass. We dont need if ever there was a need for T.V, its all at our fingertips, at a click of a button I can watch every episode of lost to find the hidden Dharma symbol on Bens Jacket, or  catching up with the Ice-T vs Soulja Boy drama, or CNN where i can see old ass Jesse Jackson embarrassing his bitter and old ass (what a shame out with the old in with the new)

So lets start this party off the way it should really go down in my book. I am going to start with a brilliant clip by THE INTERNET CELEBRITIES my Fam-a-lam Dallas and Rafi. This is how you get your ghetto brunch on....

My boy Dj J.Period invited me out to The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival @ DUMBO on Saturday, and it was refreshing to see Hip Hop was still alive. To tell you the truth I think allot of the  new tight jean weird nerdy new wave Hip Hop dudes suck lyrically, but i understand the need for change De La did it so Buck the system with your spandex you cool kids.  There definitely was some interesting acts but the finale "stole the show then left without a clue, what does it take to make up K-R-S...." Yes the BlastMaster was in the building and he lived up to his rep as HIP HOP incarnate. I wont lie I was a little thrown when he was making reference to Obama and Dickhead Cheanys' kinship (cousins). No matter if only certain bloodlines are allowed to excel in politics, I thought it was politricks by KRS1 trying to influence peoples view on politics, and sway who they will support. But sometimes people are never happy. He did do a very important thing for hip hop and politics, he brought Kevin Powell out on stage (who by the way has no idea the rules on throwing out cds to a crowd. the one person who got rained on with about 50 cds could not be happy about it. ) I think this day celebrated this small but enourmous step for hip hop. Have you ever heard of Kevin Powell? The short of the long is that he was a writer for Vibe magazine, and he has some of the best interviews with the people that have mattered in Hip Hop. I still have the Tupac issue (out on bail fresh out jail...) that issue was crack. Kevin may incited the whole East coast/ West coast rivalry, but he was at festival with a way better position. He is currently running for Congress. I actually was very impressed by the things he said and his swagger was at level 10 with a low yankee fitted , he kept it brooklyn. I really think he was the most important person at the show. If he makes it to Congress hopefully he will represent Hip Hop culture the voice of change and revolution. Good luck Kevin thanks for the cd.

And now back to the show. KRS1 show was worth every penny i didnt pay to see it(artistic lamenation).  He freestyled a good portion of the show, he was on point, it was cool that his back drop was the three bridges it made his material so visceral. First he started to rhyme to the people on the observation deck of the Brooklyn bridge, that was overlooking the show and you could tell they could hear him cause they screamed, then he referenced the bridge that started his careerthe 59th st bridge(Queensbridge) way to surreal. He went in on his extensive catalogue most of the political stuff "black cop" and "Sound of the police" (I had my own silent protest during "the bridge is over" QUEENS NEVER FAKING IT!!!!!!!) For those who have been life long fans of KRS like DJMARKX it was really satisfying to hear New York HIP HOP live and loud.

My favorite part of the show had to have been J.Period(Young Ron) and his special guests (yo.ron Who was the Fly kid in Purple throwing out cd like chinese stars?)First Jeru the Damaja hit the stage and did his set of classics and without pause like a mixtape, the piano drops on LL's "I shot ya" and right on cue Keith Murry touched down and riped like a "mini-mac to your back". There were a few technical difficulties but whats Hip-Hop without a dj or two messing shit up"drop it on the four?".....Thank goodness no one spazzed on thier dj's. Speaking of djs Premo was in the house. That man has made so many real Hip Hop records it's a shame the crowd was so worn out from the opening  acts and the heat to really give it up when Preme was on the set. (Was i really in BK? When have you ever been to a concert in BK and Premo plays a biggie record and the response is half ass? Try July 12th. BlackMoon was in the house and Buckshot ripped his set like it was 94 sans the backack. I got to check out the new kids Micky Factz and Blu & Exile its good to see the kids push the envelope overall it was a good day for Hip Hop. Shout out too ShadowPlastic.com for the fly
