The street murderer / causing hysteria

The street murderer / causing hysteria

Defend Queens people!! just thought I would get that off of my chest. How many heads remember The Rink or Skate Key or Empire Skate ring? The one that is the closest to my heart is the one that isn’t around anymore USA Skate ring, it was in Woodside, Queens under the 7 train. I seen some of the best shows there Stetsasonic, Ultra Magnetic, Just-Ice, Krs-1, Kool G R, and Roxanne Shante with her warm up man or man-child Nasty Nas. Im talking hip hop people, you know the days when wind breakers was in fashion with Cazals and fat laces, wait I think I just seen a young me on the train today, every thing goes in circles especially fashion and music. And today we bring you the back to real music Nas and his untitled album. I have had many a discussion with Nas appreciators and haters, long discussions on why isn’t he rhyming like he use to. Where are all of the brilliant street poetry, the demonic electronic emcee, some of my friends haven’t given Nas any props since he went commercial and made songs with Genuine, with this album I hope your happy, this guy is a musician, he has made such an assortment of music with so many feels that you have to compare him with jazz greats to really get what he has meant to hip hop. No im not a #1 fan. To me he only has three classics everything else was filler. But I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time here is a little gem I blew the dust off of for you as a gift….

Akinyele and Nas circa 91......

Now down to business the Untitled album is a classic to me. Not just that each song stands out as a club banger but as a complete album its FIRE. It like if someone in the early 70 made the album today. It’s a Black power album it’s a concept album and you don’t see quality concept albums anymore not like “It takes a nation of millions to hold us back” by P.E. It is as if I was listening to the son of P.E spiting fire to the youth. What an appropriate time to drop an album like N***R, especially with Jesse (Im going to cut that N****R nuts off”) Jackson showing what a hypocrite is. These old fools want the youth to “Kiss their anointing ring” but truth be told, they never were our leaders, they never represented the Hip Hop generation. Thank you Nas for making a thought proving album……………
