LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A fast-moving wildfire with "a mind of its own" had nearly doubled in size and threatened 10,000 homes in Southern California on Monday

The Station fire had grown to 85,760 acres by Monday afternoon, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's Web site. The blaze, which was only 5 percent contained, was being fueled by dry air and protected by the steep terrain in and around the Angeles National Forest.

"The fire essentially can get up and run any time and has a mind of its own," U.S. Forest Service Incident Commander Mike Dietrich said on CNN's "American Morning" early Monday.

Fire officials said Monday that they had ordered mandatory evacuations for residents of the 10,000 homes under threat. Nearly 100 homes were added to the mandatory evacuations Monday afternoon.

Racist Faces of Hate







(CNN) -- Authorities have charged two teenagers and an adult in connection with the beating of a 76-year-old African-American man early Tuesday in Baltimore, Maryland, in an incident police say had a racial connection.

Emmanuel Miller, 16, and Zachary Watson, 17 are charged as adults, police said. They and Calvin Lockner, 28, face numerous charges in the alleged beating of James Privott, including attempted murder, assault and harassing a person because of race or religion, according to court documents.

Lockner is a white supremacist with the nickname "Hitler," Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Gugliemi told CNN.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Fred Bealefeld told reporters some of Lockner's tattoos seem to indicate his affiliation with racist groups such as the Aryan Brotherhood, according to audio comments posted on the Web site of CNN affiliate WBAL.

There is no evidence the teenagers were affiliated with any white supremacist groups, Gugliemi said, but the two knew Lockner.

Police responding to a report of an armed carjacking about 3:25 a.m. Tuesday found Privott with a head injury, according to probable cause statements accompanying charges, filed in the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City.

Privott told police he was loading his Chevy Tahoe after fishing in the nearby Patapsco River when three or four white males approached him and began to kick and punch him, knocking him to the ground while using racial epithets, according to the statements.

BERLIN (AP)—Facing questions about her gender, South African teenager Caster Semenya easily won the 800-meter gold medal Wednesday at the world championships.

Her dominating run came on the same day track and field’s ruling body said she was undergoing a gender test because of concerns she does not meet requirements to compete as a woman.

Semenya took the lead at the halfway mark and opened a commanding lead in the last 400 meters to win by a massive 2.45 seconds in a world-leading 1 minute, 55.45 seconds. Defending champion Janeth Jepkosgei was second and Jennifer Meadows of Britain was third in 1:57.93.

After crossing the line, Semenya dusted her shoulders with her hands. Semenya did not speak to reporters after the race or attend a news conference.

About three weeks ago, the international federation asked South African track and field authorities to conduct the verification test. Semenya had burst onto the scene by posting a world-leading time of 1:56.72 at the African junior championships in Maruitius.

Her dramatic improvement in times, muscular build and deep voice sparked speculation about her gender. Ideally, any dispute surrounding an athlete is dealt with before a major competition. But Semenya’s stunning rise from unknown teenage runner to the favorite in the 800 happened almost overnight. That meant the gender test—which takes several weeks—could not be completed in time.

Before the race, IAAF spokesman Nick Davies stressed this is a “medical issue, not an issue of cheating.” He said the “extremely complex” testing has begun. The process requires a physical medical evaluation and includes reports from a gynecologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, internal medicine specialist and gender expert.

Born in Mogadishu, Somalia,[3] K'naan spent his childhood in the district of Wardhiigleey ("The River of Blood") and lived there during the Somali Civil War, which began in 1991. His aunt, Magool, was one of Somalia's most famous singers. K'naan's grandfather, Haji Mohamed, was a poet. K'naan is also a Muslim. His name, K'naan, means "traveller" in the Somali language.
K'naan's father, Abdi, left the country, along with many other intellectuals to settle in New York City and work as a cab driver. He mailed money home to his family (As mentioned in "If Rap Gets Jealous").[4] As the civil war continued and the situation in Somalia continued to deteriorate, K'naan's mother, Marian Mohamed, petitioned the United States embassy for an exit visa. In 1991, on the last day the US embassy remained open as the government of Mohamed Siad Barre collapsed their visa was approved, and they boarded the last commercial flight out of the country.[5]
They joined relatives in Harlem, New York City, before moving to the Toronto, Ontario neighbourhood of Rexdale, where there was a large Somali Canadian community.[6] His family still lives there. In his new country, K'naan began learning English, some through hip hop albums by artists like Nas and Rakim. Some of you know me some don't. i never claim to be the freshest Blogger, that sounds corny in my book. I see some sublime BS from so of the other kids on the block, cause the new kid is way fresher than you know. I road managed two hip hop groups, i have put records out on the underground, and i worked on the Chappelle show so i think i have a great understanding on ting and tings in hip hop.

i started this blog so my not so Internet savvy friends could see what foolishness transpires in the trashy side of hip hop.
